The intent of the book was to take the tremendous amount of information on church history, and pick out the stories of interesting people in Christian history of the first 14 centuries. They came from all sorts of varieties of time, place, and circumstances. They were martyrs or hermits, monks, nuns, or friars, pilgrims or crusaders, priests or warriors. But they all shared the same faith.
